GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Graaff-Reinet's well-known poet, novelist, scriptwriter and illustrator, Dr Oskar Prozesky, passed away on Wednesday 26 January.
Prozesky has already written more than 30 books, including five volumes of poetry.
His father, Herman, was a lecturer at the former Teachers College and his mother, Mary was a teacher of English at the Hoër Volkskool.
Oskar himself matriculated at Union High School in 1964.
He was placed first in the countrywide Senior Taalbond Examination in Bilinguasm that year. He went on to study at Stellenbosch, earning the BA, BA Honours and MA degrees in German.
He taught German at the University for four years.
He went on to teach mainly English at various Cape schools and completed his studies for the degree of PHD through Natal University.
He then completed his teaching career as English Master at Union High.
He was residing in Graaff-Reinet until his death.
