KAROO NEWS - Nqweba Secondary School held its prize-giving ceremony on 26 October.
The event celebrated the achievements of the school's students in various academic and extracurricular fields.
Academic excellence shines
Among the stars of the evening were Lathitha Lumkwana (Grade 11) student, Lee-Roy Melani, (Grade 10), and Hope Asho, a promising Grade 9 pupil.
These three stood out as the overall top achievers in their respective grades. Asho emerged as the school's overall top achiever, boasting an academic record with a percentage of 71%.
She received two prestigious prizes, a laptop, tablet, and a generous cash reward.
Sports and culture champion
The school also celebrated its sports and culture talents. A special award was presented to Lichen Booi, who was named the sports person of the year.
Booi's dedication and prowess in athletics, particularly long-distance running and marathons, have given her a place in the top five of the national u.16 team.
