GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - As reported in last week's Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, Linda Botha has resigned as a DA councillor as from the beginning of February.
In her last newsletter, Botha cited some of the reasons that led her to take this difficult decision.
"The frustration and stress caused by the total lack of interest and commitment of the local municipal management and officials, together with the verbal assault and attempted physical assault by another councillor, has led me to take stock of my life and my health," said Botha.
The Graaff-Reinet Advertiser contacted the municipality in this regard, who refrained to comment on this statement made by Botha.
The Mayor, did, however, convey his thanks to Botha for her hard work and dedication during the time that she was part of the council.
"She had a real concern for the community and was faced with many challenges, but she stood strong," said Mayor de Vos. "She had a real care for the people and made a positive contribution as she committed herself to her duties as ward councillor, and her contribution and care was much deeper than just political".
The Mayor concluded by wishing her well with her future endeavours.
