GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The newly-established Graaff-Reinet Economic Forum started work to clean the local landfill and the waste transfer station on 4 July.
The Graaff-Reinet Economic Forum was recently started, based on the belief that intervention in local municipal services is urgently required.
"[The intention of the group] is to advance the interests of the entire community and to contribute to the development of our local economy," said local attorney Derek Light.
The Graaff-Reinet Residents' and Ratepayers' Association (GRRPA), together with the Chamber of Commerce, will support this initiative.
According to a statement by the group, N1Construction will drive the clean-up project, and municipal employees will do the work. The bulk of this cost will be carried by the Dr Beyers Naudé Municipality. The municipal leaders have welcomed this support.
The GRRPA is compiling a directory of people willing to help. Email info@grt-ratepayers.co.za or WhatsApp 060 318 4492.
