MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In celebrating 2023 as the year of Robert Sobukwe, Robben Island Museum (RIM) has committed to expanding its reach across the length and breadth of this country and has taken its Public Heritage Education content to schools in Graaff-Reinet, the hometown of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe.
The RIM Outreach Programme visited Nqweba Senior Secondary and Asherville Secondary School in Graaff-Reinet where learners were exposed to the life, teachings, and learnings of Ntate Sobukwe.
These educational outreach programmes have enabled RIM to increase its footprint by extending to schools in remote areas across all nine provinces of the country. Statistics show that the programmes reached 28 000 learners in the 2022/23 financial year, a 23% increase from the previous year.
