ADENDORP NEWS - Illegal dumping in Adendorp is an ongoing problem, with many people seemingly just dumping their garden refuse and other rubbish in any open area.
A resident, who did not wish to be named, was incensed last week to see a bakkie belonging to the municipality blatantly offloading a load of garden refuse.
The incident happened alongside the road from the golf course to Wolwas, and when the resident tried to speak to the driver, he was ignored and the vehicle drove off.
The driver of a private bakkie, which had stopped in the same area, told the resident that, because the municipal vehicle was dumping there, he thought that it was an official rubbish site.
When he was told that this was not so, he apologised and headed off to the correct area.
When this was brought to the attention of ward 7 Cllr Rudy Jacobs, he immediately emailed the municipal manager to inform him, asking for feedback as to what actions would be taken against the employee.
According to Acting Community Spokesperson for the municipality, Wilca Smith, the municipal officer in question has been disciplined and apologized for his wrong-doing.
"The municipality will investigate and assess the area to see what further steps can be taken to improve the area's cleanliness," Smith told the Advertiser.
