ABERDEEN NEWS — A community meeting will be held for the Aberdeen residents of Ward 7 this Friday, 8 March, at the library hall at 17:00.
There will be several items on the agenda, including the consideration of two liquor licence applications.
These are for two neighbouring properties, one of which will be an extension to an existing business, and the other, a complete change of use of business premises.
This meeting offers members of ward 7 the chance to voice their opinions, which will be recorded by Cllr Jacobs on the report which the applicants have to submit to the Liquor Board. Any objections or concerns of community members are considered carefully by the Liquor Board before granting a licence.
Several issues relating to service delivery will also be raised, including the seemingly never-ending problems at the municipal tip, and illegal dumping.
The staffing situation at the Aberdeen Hospital will be discussed, as several changes have been instituted recently.
All residents of Ward 7 are invited to attend, and ward councillor Rudy Jacobs is hoping that some representatives from the municipality will also be able to be present.
Also up for discussion will be the working relationship between the Ward 7 residents group and the new Revivify group, who are working to uplift the whole of Aberdeen.
For those who are quick to complain about issues in the town, these community meetings are a chance to hear from the ward councillor directly what action he has taken to convey the local problems to the municipality, and what response has been given.
The meetings also give residents the opportunity to raise their own concerns about matters affecting all residents.
