GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A man died on the N9 outside Graaff-Reinet on 4 March, after he allegedly jumped in front of an oncoming delivery vehicle at about 4.45am.
According to police spokesperson Capt Bradley Rawlinson, the 35-year-old driver of the vehicle alleges that he was about 1.2km outside the Karoo town when he saw the pedestrian alongside the road.
According to the driver, the man then jumped in front of the vehicle once it got closer to where he was standing.
The driver proceeded to the Graaff-Reinet SAPS to report the accident, after which emergency medical services rushed to the accident scene. The pedestrian was declared dead on the scene.
According to Rawlinson, a case of culpable homicide was opened.
The identity of the deceased is withheld until his relatives are informed of his death.
