GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Two staff members from Camdeboo National Park outside Graaff-Reinet received awards at this year's SANParks Frontier Regional Achievement Awards on Thursday 25 July.
The annual event gives recognition to individuals, teams and parks for outstanding service in the previous financial year.
The Frontier Region includes the Addo Elephant, Camdeboo, Garden Route, Karoo and Mountain Zebra National Parks.
General Worker Supervisor, Alban Booysen, received the Regional Manager's Award for his innovation. Regional General Manager, Dries Engelbrecht, said Booysen's innovation knows no bounds. "He is known for making a plan when faced with a dilemma out in the field, a real 'MacGuyver'," Engelbrecht said.
The second Regional Manager's Award for a Camdeboo staffer went to Buffer Zone Co-ordinator, Bronwyn Botha. Apart from working on the second phase of the Mountain Zebra Camdeboo Protected Environment, Botha has been toiling at implementing numerous facets of its management plan.
Botha's work includes the co-ordination of the cultural heritage survey, the alien clearing, the soil erosion priority survey and the sensitivity survey. Engelbrecht congratulated all the recipients on their awards and thanked them for their tireless work.
Bronwen Botha was also honoured for her dedication.
