GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Water is running from a leaking pipeline in Stockenstroom Street, Graaff-Reinet, into the Sunday's River and an unused manhole.
For months, the pipeline has leaked megalitres of water on an on-and-off basis.
This morning (29 October), the stream of water again chased up tempers of residents in the drought-stricken town, as the water flooded from the pipeline along the road.
The water comes from a municipal tap, used to fill trucks.
Ward Councillor Ricardo Smith told the Advertiser that he reported the leak to the Municipal Department of Engineering and Planning early this morning. The Advertiser was on scene at 09:45. At 13:30, the water was still running from the pipe, with no municipal vehicle or worker in sight.
At 14:15, Smith undertook to report the situation again.
The Acting Municipal Communication Official, Wilca Smith, could not be reached for comment.
