GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Teachers and community leaders from Kroonvale in Graaff-Reinet are preparing for a march to the Department of Education to protest the unsanitary and unsafe environments at Lingcom Primary and Asherville Secondary School.
This comes after construction at both schools were halted due to non-payment from the Department of Education.
Councilor for Ward 5, Glenda Mackelina said she is appalled by the current learning conditions at the schools.
She said the construction site at Lingcom Primary in Kroonvale is a safety concern for the young learners.
She said children would play on the flat surfaces of the construction site, unaware of the dangers and steelworks already planted in the ground.
“The department needs to act immediately before a child is seriously injured. If things were to continue the way they are now, it is just a matter of time before someone gets hurt,” said Mackelina.
