KAROO NEWS - Eighteen Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded within the Inxuba Yethemba Municipality's (IYM) serving area since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Mayor Noncedo Zonke said on 6 July, 359 positive cases were recorded thus far, with 160 active positive cases.
Two IYM towns near Graaff-Reinet, Middelburg and Cradock, have 179 positive cases, with 109 active. As of Monday, Middelburg recorded four Covid-19 related deaths and Cradock three.
Since the last Covid-19 report received on 23 June, the total IYM cases rose from 206 to 359. At the time Middelburg and Cradock each recorded two deaths.
Zonke gave her assurance that the municipality will stick to all measures imposed upon residents and urged IYM residents not to panic.
