ABERDEEN NEWS - Aberdeen pensioner Anna Ninge, and Piet Neyssen, who is disabled, might soon each have a new home of their own.
Both Ninge and Neyssen currently live in shacks in the area.
According to Wilca Smith, spokesperson for the Dr Beyers Naudé Municipality, the Department of Human Settlements has announced the readiness for implementation of the Aberdeen Destitute Housing Project.
"[This comes] after several years of deliberation and effort by councillors and officials of the local municipality," Smith told the Advertiser.
The Department of Human Settlements appointed Ikhaya Development Trust as the contractor on this project, which they officially introduced to the municipality and the beneficiaries on 15 July.
"The scope of the project will consist of the construction of two 40 square meter RDP houses for these destitute people," Smith added.
The contract commenced on 1 August and must be completed by 30 September this year.
