NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - A massive hail and rain storm hit Nieu-Bethesda and surrounds on Tuesday afternoon causing huge damage to homes and infrastructure.
Within 30 minutes 40mm of rain was measured.
The good news is that the Gats River overflowed and lots of water is on its way to the Nqweba Dam outside Graaff-Reinet.
The hail looked like snow and people were up on their corrugated roofs to scrape off the melting hail to prevent further flooding of their homes.
To the great delight of residents and farmers it also started raining in the Graaff-Reinet area this afternoon.
Read more about the storm and the damage tomorrow in the print edition of the Advertiser as well as online.
