GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - According to a statement issued by Dr Beyers Naudé municipality, on 11 January,   load shedding has a negative effect on service delivery in all areas.

Water pumping hours and reservoir levels are affected. 

Residents are requested by the municipality to use water sparingly and prevent any water wastage. An observation is that during load shedding, an increase in vandalism, theft and sabotage of electrical and mechanical equipment takes place. Community members are requested to be vigilant and report any criminal activities.

In an attempt to motivate individuals to report any criminal activity, the council has approved a rewards-based system for conviction.
