Update
MURRAYSBURG NEWS - Elrick Hendricks (31) was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Murraysburg Regional Court in September for the murder of Berenice Jacobus (22).
Hendricks was found guilty of assault with grievous bodily harm (5 years), kidnapping (5 years) and murder (life).
Jacobus was found dead at a home in Boesak Street in Murraysburg on 9 January 2021. SAPS discovered her body in the yard with multiple stab wounds to her back.
Further investigation revealed that Hendricks, her boyfriend, had stabbed her and then fled the scene on foot. He was subsequently traced and charged with murder. His first court appearance was on 11 January 2021.
The investigating officers, detective sergeant Siphokazi Mafuya and constable FLD MacPherson were praised for their dedication and hard work.
