GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - An elderly woman from Santaville, Graaff-Reinet, has become the first patient at Midland Hospital to die from Covid-19.
According to a friend, she was admitted to the hospital last Thursday, and passed away early Tuesday morning.
Her positive test results only arrived later that same morning.
The news was announced at this morning’s JOC meeting by the mayor.
Mayor Deon de Vos conveyed his condolences to the family, and a moment of silence was also observed.
A team from various sector departments will be visiting the family to ensure health protocols and regulations are adhered to, but no indication was given as to when this would be.
The Eastern Cape Department of Health has been approached for comment.
