GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Hospice chairman Brian Hough recently presented a certificate of recognition to Maeve Strydom to acknowledge her hard work, and to thank her for her dedication and loyalty to Camdeboo Hospice for the past 21 years.
Maeve was one of Camdeboo Hospice's founder members and worked for Hospice as the professional nurse for five years, as well as continuing to serve on the board for a number of years after she finished nursing.
After a year's break, Maeve returned to Camdeboo Hospice as a board member in 2007 and has continued to serve the organisation for the past 12 years.
The annual Hike and Hobble for Hospice event was Maeve's inspiration.
Maeve and her husband Pierre worked really hard at building this up to become the largest fundraising event for Hospice. This year, the 8th Hike and Hobble event will be held on 11 and 12 May, so those willing to take on the 50km walk from the top of the Ouberg to Nieu Bethesda should start training now!
With her nursing knowledge and expertise as well as her tireless work for fundraising, Maeve has played an integral role in the development of Camdeboo Hospice and has been a great asset to the organisation.
Maeve will sadly be leaving Graaff-Reinet as her husband Pierre, who works for the Department of Education, has been transferred to Port Elizabeth.
Her commitment and dedication will be sorely missed in Graaff-Reinet but will be Port Elizabeth's gain.
