GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A man (33) pretending to sell Advertisers was arrested last week Friday, after he stole two pairs of earrings from a shop in Bourke Street on Thursday 22 August.
According to Captain Bradley Rawlinson, spokesperson for the Graaff-Reinet SAPS, the suspect gained access to the shop by pretending to sell newspapers. The complainant told the Advertiser that she bought a newspaper from him, as he claimed it was his last one to sell.
"Later, I went to make coffee. When I came back the earrings were missing," she said.
CCTV footage identified the fake seller as the suspect. The man is a known criminal to the Graaff-Reinet SAPS, which led to his arrest.
The Advertiser's regular and trusted newspaper sellers are Leon 'Don' Williams (44), Patrick Johnson (48), Randall Makanda (30) and Daniël Grootboom (30). They have been given yellow vests and identification cards from the Advertiser if readers wish to identify them.
