Update
GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The Advertiser recently reported on the shocking state of the old train station building in Graaff-Reinet.
After many weeks of requesting comment from Transnet regarding the deterioration of the station building, the following response was received on Monday, 26 March, from spokesperson Molatwane Likhethe:
“Please note that this station has been vacant for a number of years and security thereof is managed by Transnet Freight Rail. Every effort has been made by the region to source a lessee through media adverts and placing of “To Let” boards on site without success.”
Likhethe also promised that Transnet will conduct a site visit in the next few days, after which proper feedback will be given.
• The Advertiser will report on the visit as soon as it takes place.
