KAROO NEWS - Executive Mayor of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, Eunice Kekana, paid a visit to Graaff-Reinet on 10 December to engage with stakeholders about the resurgence of Covid-19 in the town.
According to the Eastern Cape Department of Health, the town had seen a total of 2 000 Covid-19 cases, as of 13 December. The latest information from the department showed that it had 186 new cases, 1762 recoveries and 52 deaths in total.
During the mayor’s visit, emergency services of the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality were present in various areas of the town. Together with the Department of Health and Community Development Workers, they did door-to-door visits in hotspot areas of Graaff-Reinet.
“All of these efforts are aimed at educating the community on Covid-19,” read a statement from the mayor’s office. “Let's work together to increase the recovery rate and decrease the infection rate of Covid-19 in the district by adhering to the regulations.”
