GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A 71-year-old man was robbed of his groceries and belongings in Graaff-Reinet yesterday (8 April).
The man, who was returning home from Camdebo Spar, was approximately 100 metres from his residence on River Road when the robber struck. The incident occurred at around 12.30pm.
Neighbours rushed to the scene to help the victim. The suspect, dressed in black, was seen running away from the scene but disappeared into the bushes next to the Sundays River.
Metro Ambulance Services and CDK Armed Response were on the scene within minutes. The victim was rushed to Midland Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unclear.
Police spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, confirmed that the police opened a case of robbery.
