NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - Paul Hildyard from Hilton in Kwa-Zulu Natal submitted a poem to the Advertiser in honour of his late friend from Nieu-Bethesda. Sydney Roxborough Norman passed away in July last year. Paul writes:
Where do friendships start and where do they end?
I have no idea, but if I cast my memory back some eight plus years, we met dearest Sydney in Nieu-Bethesda on a chilly Christmas-in-July created by our good friends Justin and Jacques, owners of Die Waenhuis.
When our eyes met and we shook hands and the conversation flowed with red wine and fine fare we knew we were friends for life.

He was generous with his home. His lovely dog Clyde, who now has a new happy home in Nieu-Bethesda, was the love of his life.
He will be greatly missed when we next visit our heart-song village. In years to come the memories remain as does the friendship.

Death ends a life, not a friendship. This is for Sydney...
