Graaff-Reinet- Progressive Ikamva Protective Workplace, Industrial street, held their year-ending Christmas party, Tuesday 20 December.
Andrew Hermans, spokesperson for Ikamva, thanked everyone for their support and their participation throughout the year and said that Ikamva believes that children are our future and they need to be prepared for hardships and challenges. "They should enhance the skills which God gave them."
Hermans told Graaff-Reinet Advertiser that Ikamva was founded by Nomvuyo Erica Masuku in 2011 and registered as a special needs school in 2012. The school was to render services to children with disabilities, learning barriers and children from financially challenged families.
IKamva is registered as a special daycare and a protective workplace for mild intellectual disabilities, youth, early childhood development, and residential facilities for all abandoned and neglected children.
“The dream of the organisation is to help disadvantaged children from all races, gender and culture to have a better and brighter life, but it is so sad when some parents never come back to check on their children," said Hermans.
