GRAAFF-REINET NEWS – The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of unseasonable weather for Graaff-Reinet and surrounds from later on today, Tuesday, November 14.
“An intense upper air trough is expected to affect the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and Mpumalanga from November 14 to 16,” SAWS warned in a release issued yesterday.
According to their forecast, snow is expected to start falling over the nearby Sneeuberg Mountains from tonight onwards.
SAWS has warned small stock farmers that cold conditions are expected to prevail in the area on Wednesday and Thursday which will be accompanied by scattered showers.
Strong winds reaching speeds of 50-60km/h are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday with maximum temperatures in the low teens invading the area by Wednesday.
Temperature forecasts for Graaff-Reinet specifically, sees Wednesday reach a maximum of 11 degrees and Thursday a high of 13.
A high probability of rain has also been predicted for today, Wednesday and Thursday for the area with 15mm predicted for later on today, more than 30mm predicted for tomorrow and 3mm predicted for Thursday.
