GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - CAWSE held their first public fundraiser earlier this month, culminating in a secret Valentine wine sale on Valentine’s Day.
Over 40 bottles of wine and sparkling wine were donated and CAWSE was able to raise just over R2000 from the sales.
These funds will go towards their outreach programs in Graaff-Reinet and Aberdeen, which includes dipping, deworming and sterilisation of dogs and cats.
Nicola Woods, spokesperson of CAWSE, said the organisation would like to say a big thank you to the Drostdy Hotel, De Camdeboo Wijnkamer; Pick 'n Pay Graaff-Reinet, TOPS at Spar Camdeboo, Niblitz and Profcon Resort, Our Yard, the Karoo Wine Club and the public for donating bottles of wine.
They would also like to thank Profcon, their staff and dogs for their wonderful hospitality and allowing CAWSE to run their secret Valentine wine sale from their premises and BlueSky for printing the CAWSE T-Shirts.
Nicola also expressed her heartfelt thanks to those who supported the wine sale on the day. "It was wonderful to see the support of our community and know they are behind us in this exciting yet daunting project."
If you were not able to donate wine, or do not drink but would like to contribute financially, please see the CAWSE bank details at the end of the article.
If you would like your donation to go specifically towards the animals in Aberdeen or Nieu Bethesda, please use this as a reference with your deposit.
CAWSE will be holding their second meeting on Saturday 26 February 10:00 at Profcon. The invitation is open to members, volunteers and anyone who wants to join or just find out more about CAWSE.
Nicola said everyone is welcome. "Men, women, young, old and from anywhere within the Camdeboo district. Everyone has their own skills and talents that can help our animals in need. We have made the meeting on a Saturday morning so that people who work can join us. And of course, those of you who do the Parkrun have time to recover before joining us."
At the meeting they will be registering committee members and electing key personnel. Nicola said there is no fee for becoming a member, only a big heart for animals and a willingness to work as a team. For more information contact Nicola on 083 415 6514.
