KAROO NEWS - Santaville residents are facing an unfortunate power outage due to a recent incident of cable theft and vandalism. The 11 000-volt overhead cable, a critical component of the local electricity distribution network spanning between Krom- and School Street, has fallen victim to the hands of criminals.
An electricity repair team is working to address the situation and restore power.
In a bid to expedite the restoration process, procurement of specialized termination joints - vital for the repair - has been initiated and these components are slated for delivery today.
Once the essential materials are in hand, a more precise timeline for the full restoration of electricity will be available. The current estimate suggests that power will be reinstated within a period of two to three days.
Community involvement is paramount in preventing similar incidents in the future. Cable theft disrupts daily life and places an undue financial burden on the municipality for repairs.
All residents are urged to be vigilant and report any cable theft to electrical infrastructure to Mr Vuyisa Jantjies at 072 982 4081.
