GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Asherville Secondary chairperson of the schools governing body, Nella Reid, said this morning (8 June) that the governing body, teachers and Grade 12s are all positive that the rest of the school year will go as planned, with the amended curriculum.
Reid said everything is in place, except for the ablution facilities that are not working. She said the Department of Education gave her the assurance that they will deliver temporarily ablution facilities at the school.
Teachers and the learners who arrived at school had an assembly with headmaster JP Grootboom, who explained all the safety regulations and the way forward for the 2020 school year. Reid stood at the school gate assisting the support staff with the screening of everybody entering the premises.
Reid said that she is hopeful that most of the learners will continue their last school year. According to Reid, she and management expect fine results from 2020 matriculants, despite much of the school year lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have strong and positive candidates and know that they will make us proud,” she said.
