GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A fatal stabbing that took place in Asherville, Graaff-Reinet, yesterday, has shocked the community.
At about 18:00 on Tuesday evening, 19 March, William Jantjies (39) died after being stabbed in his home in Asherville.
According to a spokesperson for the Graaff-Reinet SAPS, Capt. Bradley Rawlinson, it is alleged that Jantjies was at home when the 38-year-old suspect – who was subsequently arrested – arrived at his residence, and called him into the street.
Jantjies’ elderly father then responded to the call at the front door.
After the front door was opened, the suspect allegedly walked past the elderly man, straight towards Jantjies, stabbing him in the chest.
The suspect then turned around and fled the scene.
Emergency services were called, who declared Jantjies dead upon their arrival at the scene.
The suspect was later arrested and detained for murder by the Graaff-Reinet SAPS.
The suspect is due to appear in court soon.
