GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - CSI (Camdeboo Sterilisation Initiative) in Graaff-Reinet is in desperate need of temporary foster homes for dogs and cats.
There are many people who may, for a variety of reasons, not be able to commit to the possible 10 to 15 years of adopting a new dog or cat, but may perhaps be able to commit to caring for a dog or cat for a few days, weeks or months while CSI search to find its forever home.
“All we need from you is your love, care and dedication and a safe home environment” said Erma Voigt of CSI. All vet care that the animal may need, including run- of- the- mill care like vaccinations, deworming, tick and flea treatment, are paid for by CSI. Food can also be provided, although some fosterers prefer to provide this themselves.
CSI often need to remove animals from dire circumstances, or animals get surrendered due to owners moving, death, divorce or other reasons. CSI do not want to burden the local SPCA with any more animals if they can care for and rehome them themselves, but they can only help as many as can be found good foster homes.
Since 2012, CSI has managed to rescue and rehome 367 dogs and cats through a handful of only about five foster homes. If more local people can be found who are willing to open their homes to fostering, they can considerably lessen the burden on these few dedicated people and help even more animals.
Anyone willing to become involved, or who would like to find out more, please WhatsApp Erma Voigt on 072 1762 175 or email erma.voigt@yahoo.com.
