ABERDEEN NEWS — After the recent spate of thefts from MTN cellphone towers in the Aberdeen and Graaff-Reinet areas, it was discovered last week that the Vodacom tower at De Puts, about 60km from Aberdeen on the Beaufort West road, has now been targeted.
Last weekend, a local farmer heard rumours about a theft, and an MTN technician checked earlier this week and passed on a report to Vodacom that four batteries, valued at a total of R20 000, are missing.
The Vodacom technician last checked the tower on August 9, so the theft happened at some period over the last three months.
