MIDDELBURG NEWS - No state ambulances are available in Middelburg, as EMS personnel are in quarantine following several positive Covid-19 cases among members.
Patients phoning the Wilhelm Stahl Memorial Hospital in the town are advised to find private transport if they need to get to the hospital urgently, as the ambulance services in the town have been unavailable for over a week.
Two weeks ago, there was a similar problem in Aberdeen. One member of the EMS staff tested positive, but he has now recovered and is back at work.
Other staff members were in quarantine as they had been in contact with a positive patient.
To the relief of the community, the service has now returned to normal.
