ABERDEN NEWS - The Aberdeen municipal office was unexpectedly closed on Thursday afternoon.
Management became aware that one of the teachers from Luxolo Intermediate School in Aberdeen, who has tested positive for Covid-19, visited the office on Wednesday.
A municipal employee who is related to the teacher, and had been in close contact with her, has been tested and is in self-isolation awaiting results.
According to information sent by Aberdeen area manager Clive Kombani to HR Director Dawn Klassen, the Masakhane clinic is refusing to test the municipal employees in the office at this point, until the results have been received for the employee who is related to the teacher.
“I have arranged that the office be closed with immediate effect and be deep-cleaned as soon as disinfectant and the necessary PPE becomes available,” said Kombani in the email.
No response has been received from the municipality to questions concerning the closure.
