GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — All women are invited to share in the 87th celebration of the Women’s World Day of Prayer in South Africa on Friday, March 3, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Caledon Street at 1pm.
The theme for this year’s programme, which has been prepared by the women of the Philippines, is entitled “Am I being unfair to you?”, based on the Biblical parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16).
The programme lasts for an hour to afford women the opportunity to attend during their lunch hour, and it is hoped that farm moms would be able to make the time before taking children home from school for the weekend. For those who can linger a little longer Trinity would love to invite ladies to join in fellowship over a cup of tea or coffee in the hall afterward.
Come and learn a little more about the life of the Filipino women amidst concerns so similar to those experienced here in South Africa – HIV/Aids, violence against women and children and human trafficking. Although life is tough and they work in the rice fields to make ends meet, they are ranked the fifth happiest people in the world and it is said that Filipino children always smile.
A love offering will be taken to support World Day of Prayer charities.
