GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Locals Erika Whyte and Reinette Warner won an unforgettable experience last week by liking and sharing a Fly Karoo Air Services Facebook post.
Fly Karoo Air Services - Graaff-Reinet's first-ever helicopter charter service - was recently launched by co-owners Marco van Jaarsveld and Franscois Fitzgerald and aims to boost the town's tourism industry by providing scenic flights over popular sites and charter flights to destinations like Port Elizabeth and nearby game lodges.
The two Graaff-Reinetters were announced as winners of the competition on Friday evening, March 31, whereafter they were treated to a 10-minute scenic flight over Graaff-Reinet early the next morning.
Lana Spangenberg, who was also announced as a winner, was, unfortunately, unable to claim the prize as she lives too far away.
The helicopter ride saw them soaring over Graaff-Reinet where they could enjoy the dramatic landscape of the Valley of Desolation and the breathtaking expanse of Graaff-Reinet below.
Both passengers were enthralled by the experience describing it as "unforgettable".
‘It’s hard to pick out one part which stands out the most, the whole experience was terrific and the helicopter was spectacular!’ said Warner. For those Graaff-Reinetters who are eager to experience a helicopter flip over Graaff-Reinet, Fly Karoo Air Services will be offering an opening special on Saturday, April 29, with tickets for their 5-minute trip around Spandauskop available at only R300 per person and tickets for their 10-minute trip around Spandauskop, to the Valley of Desolation and over Graaff-Reinet's Horseshoe selling for only R600 per person.
