ABERDEEN NEWS — The Aberdeen police force gained a new warrant officer recently when Selwyn van Rooyen was promoted from sergeant.
Van Rooyen, who was born in Cape Town, considers himself an Aberdeen man, having lived in the town since he was a young boy. He attended Kamdebo Primary School and Spandau Secondary in Graaff-Reinet.
He joined SAPS in 1990 as a constable in Aberdeen, and was promoted to sergeant in 1996. He is currently the shift commander for Vispol, the visible policing unit.
He was recently presented with his warrant officer badge of rank by station commander Captain Advocate Qashani.
