GRAAFF-REINET | ABERDEEN NEWS — On Monday, March 20, Jan Flippies (48) of Aberdeen was found guilty of rape in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate Court.
In January 2016 Flippies raped his then 7- year-old step-daughter in their home in Thembalesizwe. The child’s mother was not at home, as she was attending an outpatient clinic at Midland Hospital.
There are strong rumours in the community that this was not the first time that Flippies had abused his step-daughter.
In court on Monday, Flippies pleaded guilty to the charge of rape. On Wednesday, Judge Bloem sentenced him to 18 years imprisonment.
The investigation was conducted by DC Angela Matondolo of the Graaff-Reinet Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.
