GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — In the 2016 matric exams, the Graaff-Reinet district has the distinction of scoring the top marks in physical science nationally, which is certainly an achievement to be proud of!
Once again the Eastern Cape was the worst-performing province in the 2016 exams, but there was at least a slight improvement provincially over the 2015 results.
These figures are strongly influenced by a large number of poor schools in the province and are fortunately not a reflection of the overall results in the Graaff-Reinet district. In fact, this district scored the third highest pass rate in the province with a very creditable 76% of its students passing.
Cradock, with an 81.2% pass rate was the highest performer in the Eastern Cape, followed by Uitenhage at 76.3%, and then Graaff-Reinet at 76%. This result for Graaff-Reinet is a whopping 15.8% improvement on the 2015 results, and many of the schools in the district have achieved a similar or even greater improvement.
