KAROO NEWS - Four people have lost their lives and others sustained injuries after a Rigid Hino truck collided with a taxi on the N9 road between Arbedeen and Willowmore, today Friday 8 December at about 14:00.
The truck was travelling from Arbedeen towards Willowmore while a Toyota minibus taxi, allegedly with 16 occupants, was travelling from Willowmore where the two collided.
A total of four occupants from the taxi died on the scene: two males and two females, all passengers.
The injured were taken to the Graaff-Reinet Hospital. Drivers of both vehicles are among the survivors.
It is alleged that fatigue and reckless and negligent driving were the main contributing factors to the crash.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Aberdeen police station for further investigation.
