GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Since Monday 20 November, Graaff-Reinet Post Office has opened its doors for trade again.
At the start of July, residents of Graaff-Reinet were shocked and in total dismay when they were informed of the Post Office's closure.
The South African Post Office has become the fourth state-owned entity (SOE) to be placed in business rescue. Earlier this year it was placed under provisional liquidation. To avoid final liquidation, which would have resulted in its complete closure, the South African Post Office then applied to the high court for business rescue.
This application was granted. Now the business rescue practitioners are working on a plan to rescue the Graaff-Reinet Post Office and make it a fully functioning and a financially viable SOE again.
"Although some branches might be closed, they are adamant that they wish for the Graaff-Reinet branch to remain open," says a reliable source.
