MOTORING NEWS - Aliwal Auto is conveniently located in the main road of Aliwal North on the N6 between Bloemfontein and Queenstown and was bought in 1997 by Tobie and Noreen Potgieter.

Tobie was the Dealer Principle and Sales Manager while Noreen managed the Administration side of the business.

Tobie grew up just outside Aliwal North where his parents oversaw the shop and post office for the train station located at Sonskyn and Noreen grew up in Cradock where she attended Rocklands.

In 2007 Tobie temporarily handed the sales and Dealer Principal position to Eddie Marais while Noreen continued to manage the Administration and Financial side of the business all the while Tobie and Noreen Potgieter remained the owners of the business. In 2012 their daughter Pippi returned from Stellenbosch University and took over the Administration from her mother, Noreen.

Their son in law Heinrich Schoeman became the General Manager of the Dealership in 2017 and has become involved in all the different departments of the company since then. From 1 May 2023 Heinrich has taken over the management from Eddie Marais and has become the new Dealer Principal and Salesman following in his father in laws footsteps.

Aliwal Auto is proud to still be one of the few Dealerships in the country to remain an individual Dealership that is owned and run by a single family. We firmly believe in supporting local businesses and the local community, which is only possible as a business through the continued support of the local community.
