A new experience in Karoo dining

ABERDEEN BUSINESS NEWS — Aberdeen has reason to celebrate!

"On December 1 at 17:00, GEORG opens its doors for a bookings-only launch party", says Georg Ritschl, the architect entrepreneur who entered Aberdeen six months ago to commence elaborate renovations at 2 Murray Street.

With a trained eye, Georg has taken an old unmaintained building and transformed it into a delight for the senses.

GEORG now offers elegant, air-conditioned indoor dining, spaciously enlivened lavender-walled courtyard, an events room/bar and a small deli to come. The kitchen is steered by a professional chef with 10 years experience and clientele will be attended to by trained waiting staff.

Like many, Georg Ritschl was taken by Aberdeen on his very first visit, but unlike most passing through, he decided to act on the sentiment.

"I enjoy beautiful spaces, delicious healthy food, good music and socializing", he explains. "So, the possibility of more of all of this is what GEORG brings to Aberdeen."

GEORG is a ‘smart-casual’ dining establishment that will definitely add to the allure of booking into an Aberdeen B&B for those passing by.

Aside from a menu designed by a professional who has assisted opening many successful South African restaurants, GEORG has incorporated a vision unlikely seen in this part of the Karoo in recent times: regular live music.

GEORG has both an indoor and outdoor stage facility and state of the art sound and lighting.

On December 1, GEORG offers seating for 75 people. "Our opening bash will be a buffet, so everyone, including our staff, can relax and enjoy our first night. From then on, we are a la carte".

The newly formed A-D-W Jazz Trio, featuring three legendary Graaff-Reinett musicians; Archie Pienaar, Eddie ‘Dozza’ Maarman and Rewallen ’Wally’ Blaau (pictured below), will set the evening’s atmosphere.

Salt, an Aberdeen trio, will also make their performance debut. "December 1 is going to be a night of many firsts,’ smiles George confidently. "This is my first restaurant, and so I invite you to book and come and make our first fun memories with us."
