CRADOCK NEWS - Not even the current drought can get the better of Angora goat farmers, Wentzel and Elanie Lombard, who farm in the mountains of Mortimer, squeezed in between the districts of Somerset East and Cradock.
Wentzel Lombard this week delivered the biggest mohair clip in twenty years to CMW, the fibre division of the OVK Group of Companies in Port Elizabeth.
According to Pierre van der Vyver, Manager of the Mohair Division of OVK, he has seen this achievement of Wentzel’s coming for the past two years!
The twenty ton mohair clip, the biggest yet to be delivered to a broker, was garnered over a period of six months under the most trying conditions of drought.
Wentzel’s only comment was: I just hope the price for my mohair clip will compensate for my enormous feed account!
The Lombard’s are a family of achievers with wife Elanie and daughter Louzel stars of the popular TV Reality show ‘My Kitchen Rules’.
Wentzel’s clip will come under the hammer on the International Mohair Exchange in Port Elizabeth on November 7.
