GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The 27th Charmac Ram Sale held at Houdconstant on Tuesday, 27 February, was a success with a good demand for stud, selected and flock rams.
The total offering of 48 rams was sold for an average of R9 438 - stud rams sold for an average of R 22 071, selected rams for R10 136 and flock rams for R 6 233.
The highest priced ram sold to Paul Broeksma and David and Lloyd Short for R35 000.
The second highest price of R30 000, a Polled ram, was sold to Johan du Plessis of Humansdorp.
For the first time ever ewes were also on offer at this sale. Pregnant ewes averaged R2 600, while two-tooth ewes averaged R1 800.
