Replacing of faded lights at Horseshoe library is commendable. I've learnt that a new director of library division at the municipality has assumed duties. To replace a broken window, toilet, gate, - the list is endless.
The process will wait until "Jesus comes". No mechanism in place to lodge complaints and hold officials accountable. If need be heads must roll.
I"ve been complaining about the state of public libraries since time immemorial, writing to the media, meeting officials to no avail. Shortage of staff is a major problem.
Library users have to endure the indignity of being locked inside or outside when the one person manning the library have to go on official duty or running errands in town. A disaster waiting to happen. Heaven knows if a fire breaks out whilst people are locked inside.
The municipalitiy is breaking its own safety regulations. The notice " We will be back soon " has become a familiar sight on a daily basis at the doors.
Finally, the unofficial " ban " on newspapers, magazines, journals which came into effect before COVID should be lifted immediately.
WIFI should be installed in libraries to relieve congestion around meagre computers and unreliable internet.
