GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The weather forecast of 24°C and partly cloudy bodes well for the annual St James Christmas Fair which takes place this Saturday, November 25, on the grounds of the church and rectory in Somerset Street.
Organisers Felicity Minnaar and Evette Holmes are delighted with the response from stallholders, with a full house of 40 stalls expected, including several people selling for the first time.
The goods on sale will include glass models, Christian literature, handmade soaps, crochet and knitted goods, needlework, lavender products, beauty and skincare ranges, special teacher gifts, wire sculptures, collectables, craft supplies, hand-made cards, and other interesting Christmas gift ideas. On the food side, there will be German Christmas eats, a variety of terrines, bread, baked goods, and sweets.
Several charities will be selling goods to raise funds, including Hospice with a white elephant stall, CSI with pet products and books, and Boundless (formerly the ACVV Protected Workplace) with gifts and crafts. The Lions will also be selling their popular Christmas fruitcakes.
For those wishing to eat something tasty at the Fair, there will be breakfast bacon and egg rolls from the local Cancer Association, hamburgers from the Methodist Church, pancakes flipped by the VLV and of course a tea garden, organised by Parsonage Street Home. Homemade ginger beer, cooldrinks and water will also be on sale.
The Fair promises to provide an ample selection of goods for Christmas, as well as a wonderful day out for the whole family.
The Fair starts at 09:00, and will carry on until about 14:00. As always, there will probably be an early rush, so visitors are advised not to come too late if they want to find the best bargains and selection!
