GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The acclaimed adaptation of Paul Gallico’s classic novella, The Snow Goose, will be performed at the John Rupert Theatre in Graaff-Reinet on February 21 next year.
The Snow Goose is a classic favourite that has captured the hearts of young and old readers alike over the past seven decades.
On the desolate Essex marshes and against the background of the miracle of Dunkirk, a wounded, storm tossed snow goose brings a young girl, Fritha, and the recluse Philip Rhayader together in a moving story about love and courage.
KBT Productions owners Simon and Helen Cooper were both read the story as children, and it made a lasting impact on them and Helen came up with the idea of putting it on stage.
They approached the cast and director to devise this adaptation, which opened at the National Arts Festival last year to rapturous reviews.
The story it told with colourful characters in theatre masks, a dramatic soundscape and simple props to propel audience into the heart of the story.
Keep an eye on the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser for more information about this show running up to 21 February.
