GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Bright Lights Big City rolled into Graaff-Reinet on Friday afternoon last week, very excited to be playing their first show in Graaff-Reinet.
Part of their Hare’s Ear Cape Tour, Kambro Cottage was their second stop along the road.
Considering the weather was rather icy the organisers were very impressed that everyone who had bought tickets turned up ready to be entertained. Guests all brought along picnic baskets with food and wine and were armed to the hilt with blankets and thick jackets.
Fires were lit to provided some warmth and atmosphere, and everyone was issued with a glass of sherry on arrival to take the edge off the cold.
The band started promptly at 7pm with a nice mellow set of blues and laid back rock. This was followed by a short intermission and a wilder set thereafter.
The show ended at 9pm and everyone went home warm and suitably entertained!
“We managed to comfortably squeeze 25 guests into our little back garden and had a rocking good time” enthused host Greg Kappers of Kambro Cottage. “We would like to thank all the locals who came out, bought tickets and supported us and the band, not knowing at all what to expect from the show or the venue!”
The organisers were thrilled to see all the guests, both young and old, enjoying some good live South African music right here in the Karoo!
The band moved on to Nieu-Bethesda on Saturday evening to play at the Pump Palooza and reported back the day after saying it was a fantastic festival.
The hosts at Kambro Cottage have more plans in the pipeline to offer entertainment with a difference and will be giving details nearer the time in the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser.
