NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — The Ibis Lounge in Nieu-Bethesda has served many a guest at its colourful tables since its opening by proprietor Terry Winship a few years back.
The highly rated guesthouse and restaurant has had excellent reviews on travel forums, and the little shop with locally sourced products has satisfied many a shopper. Sadly for the village, Terry, her partner Layton and daughter Indygo will be leaving Nieu-Bethesda this month and relocating to Cape Town.
The Ibis Lounge will, however, continue running in its capacity as a guesthouse with private dining facilities for guests only, until such time as it is sold. Nieu-Bethesda has always attracted the creative set, and Paul Zunckle and his wife Lucie are no exception.
No strangers to the Eastern Cape, having lost their farm to fires in the Katberg region, Paul and Lucie are excited about managing the Ibis Lounge into the future. Paul is a writer of fiction having written 14 books, with 8 being published. “Blood Moon Over Africa” was his debut novel – delving into supernatural mythology and sorcery in the Zambezi Valley.
With skills such as having worked as an air traffic controller for 20 years, and with Lucie who is a business oriented go-getter at his side, the Ibis is sure to be in good hands!
