RUGBY NEWS - Springbok midfielder Francois Venter was the big winner at the annual Toyota Cheetahs awards ceremony in Bloemfontein on Wednesday night.
Venter, who made a successful return to the national squad and regained his place in the Springbok backline for the November tour, was honoured as being named the 2017 Toyota Cheetahs player of the year while also picking up the backline player of the year award.
The announcement was made at a cocktail function in Bloemfontein, where flanker Henco Venter also scored big, winning the Currie Cup player of the year award, and scooping up the players’ player of the year award as well. Venter is the nephew of former Springbok Ruben Kruger.
